1966–1967: Vice President Humphrey Protest
On February 20, 1967, Vice President Hubert Humphrey gave a speech in Memorial Auditorium. When introduced, he was greeted by many people standing in silent protest. Later, when he failed to address the topic most on everyone's mind—Vietnam—some people responded by heading for the exits.
